Do you ever take time to simply reflect on the magnitude and glory of God? The trinity is a concept that will confuse any who seek to understand and on which any meditate. But it is a glorious truth that God, as a single being, exists in three persons. He is infinite, He is everywhere at once, He knows everything and created everything. He has a perfect plan for the future and is sovereign over everything that occurs here on the Earth and in all of creation.
[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
– Col 1.15-17
Jesus, though entering the world merely two thousand years ago, is given credit for creation and also holding all things together. The author of Hebrews says that He is continually speaking all things into existence (Heb 1.3). If Jesus only stopped speaking, we would cease to be!
Here is something marvelous: the Son of God descended from heaven in such a way that, without leaving heaven, he willed to be born in the virgin’s womb, to go about the earth, and to hang upon the cross; yet he continuously filled the world even as he had done from the beginning!
– John Calvin
God’s glory is so far outside of our comprehension that it can be, at times, a mental acknowledgement only when we meditate on it. But consider this. The God who is speaking the entire Earth and the universe into existence, He who keep the Earth rotating and orbiting the sun, He who establishes kingdoms, natural laws, wars and authorities also knows every single hair that is on your head (Matt 10.30). Not only did He know you when you were in your mother’s womb, He formed you. He ordained your name, your personality and your future (Ps 139).
There is no one so trustworthy. He that knows all, created all, sustains all, and speaks your very body into existence. Rest in Him today. Meditate on His glory. Praise Him for how marvelous He is, how unsearchable, unthinkable, unfathomable and indescribable He is. Love on your creator today.
